The Iranian public was able to discover, in Tehran itself, the history of the Louvre through more than fifty masterpieces of universal works. In particular, the "Statue of Padimahes bearing a stele of Horus", an Egyptian antiquity from the 4th century BC, or the Minerva of the 2nd century AD, is a particularly striking example of Roman statuary.
As the result of an exemplary cooperation between the Louvre Museum and the National Museum of Iran, this exhibition is part of the agreement signed between the Louvre and the ICHHTO (organization in charge of museums and cultural heritage) during President Rohani's visit to France in January 2016.
It is a striking example of the dynamism of the cultural and scientific relationships between the two countries. In this context, the Louvre Museum will open on March 27, at its Lens site, a remarkable exhibition on Qadjar art entitled "The Empire of Roses. Masterpieces of Persian art of the 19th century ".
